Bosnian-Herzegovinian artist Addis Fejzić’s work exhibited at the ‘Architecture Week Prague’ and the photographs of stećaks that have been nominated for inclusion on the World heritage List

The Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Prague is participating in the 9th International Architecture Week Prague held from the 17th of August until the 18th of October 2015, represented with the artwork created by the Bosnian-Herzegovinian and Australian sculptor Mr Addis Fejzić, titled ‘Bosnian-Herzegovinian Triumphal Gate’. Fejzić’s artwork, as he describes it, “represents the complexity of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian history at the symbolic level” and is part of Addis’ art opus inspired by stećaks and the creative result of his doctoral research at the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia.
At the ‘Architecture Week Prague’, this artwork is exhibited as part of the promotion of the regional nomination of stećaks for listing on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List that had been prepared jointly over several years by the representatives of the State Commissions for collaboration with UNESCO and experts from the region. As the part of an ‘Architecture Week Prague’ exhibition titled ‘World heritage’, three countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Serbia) are jointly represented by the above mentioned original artwork by Mr Addis Fejzić.
In addition, on this occasion, in collaboration with the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Prague, the Sarajevo UNESCO Office has lent the ‘Architecture Week Prague’ the photographs of stećaks that have been nominated for inclusion on the World heritage List. These photographs, along with Addis’ sculpture, are presented together, in the same exhibition space of the monastery of St. George (Jirski Klašter) at the Prague Court, under the patronage of the Czech President Miloš Zeman and several relevant Czech cultural institutions.
The Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Prague took part in the ‘Architecture Week Prague’ 2014 by exhibiting a maquette of the Mostar’s Old Bridge provided for this prestigious festival by the Mostar Municipality and Mostar Cultural Centre.
